Goals from Clayton Donaldson and Darren Chadwick in each half were sufficient for York to take the honours in United's final match of the pre-season. For Leeds, their substitutes were Jonathan Lund, who took over from Mark Wilberforce, Tomi Ameobi who replaced Ryan Serrant, Ross Wilkinson who replaced Joshua Vermooten, David Brown who came on for Fabian Delph and Chris Ovington who came on for Ollie Hotchkiss. The York bench was: Goalkeeper Arran Reid, Defenders Anthony Lloyd and Darren Hollingsworth, Midfielders Ross Greenwood and Byron Webster, and Striker Alex Rhodes. Former Leeds trainee, Craig Farrell also had a goal disallowed for the home side. Referee: Philip Prosser (Gloucestershire)
